When we built this website to showcase and sell original photographic prints, the primary goal was to infuse the site with the highest-quality look and feel. And since each print is hand signed by the artist, the site had to have a personal simplicity about it that mirrored the personal service provided by the artist. It was very important to ensure that the prints are shown accurately and in a unique way to differentiate it from all of the corporate poster sites out there, as well as the multitude of photo sharing sites on the web. To do this we controlled every aspect of the site design, eliminating any prebuilt templates, so that spacing and layout could be precisely fine tuned. From a design standpoint, we incorporated an informal header style and chose to display each image in the mat in which it will ship. This not only becomes a strong style element on the site, but ensures the buyer will see an accurate representation of what they will recieve. A simple navigation scheme using the menu at the top allows the user to move easily about the site. Finally, we integrated the ecommerce functionality of a transaction partner into the site to manage credit card ordering and security. This simplifies site management and provides a trustworthy source for making credit card purchases. |
