In an ideal world, a marketing manager would have easy access to everything they need to promote and sell their product line. But in the real world, with multiple manufacturing sites and shipping warehouses, sometimes located around the globe, that isn't always the case.

In this instance, one of three representative products for a simple group image was on backorder and would not be available in time for the photo shoot. Since product sales goals were not going to go away, Regal Eye stepped in and produced the product digitally.

The product line is unique in that the front face of the units are made of durable stainless steel, rather than the inexpensive polycarbonate typically used. For the shot, the client wanted to show the three different sized models: a 12mm, 18mm and 30mm diameter unit. It was the largest of these units that was not available. But, a similar model from another product line was available in that diameter and was used as a stand-in during the photo shoot (see top photo).

The final image was created by replacing the polycarbonate face with a metal one taken from a shot of a smaller diameter unit taken at a larger size for just this purpose. We also adjusted the color balance of the stand-in unit to match the color of the stainless steel of the other two units. Finally, the background, cable and shadows were cleaned up for a flawless, high-quality appearance (bottom photo).
